He resided in Caledonia County, Vermont prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Vermont National Guard on February 24, 1941, prior to the war, in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents.

He later, after his enlistment, was married to Helena A Croteau Cushman.

Wilbur "Died Of Wounds" received in action during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart.
