He resided in Caledonia County, Vermont prior to the war. He enlisted in the Vermont National Guard on February 24, 1941, prior to the war, in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents. He later, after his enlistment, was married to Helena A Croteau Cushman. Note: ROBERT CUSHMAN OBITUARY ROBERT CUSHMAN OBITUARY Robert David Cushman, 82 Robert David Cushman, 82, of Sunset Acres, Washington Street, Plainville, died on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro following a period of declining health. He was the husband of Florence L. (Francis) Annese Cushman to whom he was married on October 27, 1996. He was the husband of the late Phyllis R. (Duffy) Cushman who died in February 1988. Born in Waterford, Vermont on January 24, 1928, he was a son of the late Wilbur and Densis Bell (Russel) Cushman. A resident of Plainville since 1995, Mr. Cushman formerly resided in Foxboro, East Mansfield and West Mansfield. A former tractor-trailer driver, Mr. Cushman later worked for the Town of Mansfield as a custodian in the school department for 17 years and for the Town of Foxboro as a custodian at the town police station and town hall for 21 years. He retired on August 23, 2003. He was a member of Cushman Union Church in the Adamsdale section of North Attleboro. He will be lovingly remembered for his strong work ethic and love for working around his property and yard. In addition to his wife of 13 years, he leaves a daughter: Ruth Webber and her husband, R. David Webber, of Foxboro; a son: Thomas G. Cushman of North Attleboro; a grandson: Michael R. Webber and his wife, Deborah Webber, of Cumberland, Rhode Island; a granddaughter: Michelle R. Devine and her husband, Jarrett Devine, of Exeter, Rhode Island; two great grandchildren: Lucas A. Webber and Nathan D. Webber both of Cumberland, Rhode Island; a stepdaughter: Lorraine Waseleski and her husband, Stephen Waseleski, of Gansevoort, New York; two step grandchildren: Danielle Waseleski and Brittany Waseleski both of Gansevoort, New York; a sister: Lucille Peterson and her husband, Roland Peterson, of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota and Apache Junction, Arizona and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Wilbur “Buster” Cushman who died during World War II, Lillian Blodgett and Esther Croteau. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Service celebrating his life on Sunday, February 28, 2010 at 12:15 PM in the Barton Chapel of Bethany Congregational Church, Foxboro. Burial will be private. Following church services, an invitiation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced. Please do not send flowers. Lucille was united in marriage to Robert Pike on Flag Day, June 14, 1951, and they made their home on a dairy farm in St. Albans, VT. In 1978, Lucille and Robert moved to Tucson, AZ, and he passed away in 1979. She worked as an administrative assistant at Pima Community College. She continued to make her home in Arizona moving to Mesa, where she worked as an administrative assistant in a health care facility. On August 18, 2007, Lucille was united in marriage to Roland E. Peterson. They made their home in Mesa and Munson Lake near Detroit Lakes, MN, later Frazee and Climax, MN, before moving to Eventide Fairmont in Moorhead. Lucille was a member of Maranatha Lutheran Church, Glyndon, MN, and a former member of a Lutheran church in Mesa. She enjoyed gardening and helping others. Lucille is survived by her daughters, Roberta “Bobi” (Scott) Oates, Las Vegas, NV, and Alberta Ladymon, Palm Bay, FL; grandson, Joseph (Karen) Ladymon, Alexandria, VA; five stepchildren; several stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Robert and Roland; two brothers and two sisters.
